Kuhnline.com was founded in 2004, in an effort to provide small businesses with simple and effective web communication tools. After running our own web and email servers for over two years, we decided it was time to share our vision of simple, affordable, feature-rich hosting with the rest of the world.

In 2005, we added Computer and Network Support to our growing list of services. In addition to on-site visits, our advanced Remote Support Tool allows us to connect to your computer and help you no matter where you are located.

After years as a computer consultant, Matt Kuhnline was often frustrated by the task of directing a novice user, by phone, through complicated menus in attempts to restore a computer to its former working state.

After repeatedly asking "what do you see on your screen now?," he knew that there had to be a better way. And so this service was born.

It's not magic, but it sure feels like it.

 

How do you say our name?

Kuhnline is pronounced koon-line.

The following must be true before you apply:

You do not run your own consulting business.
You have a car or other motor vehicle. Travel within San Francisco, Marin County, or the South Bay Area will be required.

Network Engineer / IT Support Technician

Job Description:

• You will provide all levels of IT support to small business clients throughout the bay area. Typical client has 10 to 20 employees in many different fields. You are the person the client turns to for all IT issues, no matter how big or small. If you don't know the answer you help them find it. You will be at a different place every day of the week. Some days will be hectic and some will be easy. You will have regular clients that you see every week and others that will only call once a month or less.
• The work is challenging and rewarding. You will learn something new every day. You will meet people in many different fields that you didn't know existed. You will be responsible for the client's network and computer systems and you will take pride in your great work that keeps them running smoothly. You will anticipate potential problems and make recommendations for hardware and software upgrades as needed.
• You will work alone at the client's office most days. You will collaborate with other Kuhnline.com employees by phone or email as needed. You must have a car and a cell phone.

Ideal Candidate:

You are a computer know-it-all. You love working with computers and learning new technology. You are nice person and you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others. You can figure out just about any computer related problem on your own or by researching on the web. You have worked in an office before. You are friendly and honest.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain networks, servers, firewalls, desktops at client locations in Marin and San Francisco.
• Setup and maintain a secure networking environment for client networks.
• Use "Best Practices" when troubleshooting network/server issues.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Passion for IT and security
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or anything
• 3 years of IT work experience
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003 and Exchange 2000/2003, LAN,TCP/IP
• Linux experience desired
• Self managed and resourceful
• Analytical and troubleshooting abilities
• Self reliant
• Excellent written and verbal skills for communicating with clients
