How to Clean Up Spyware

1. Don't buy anything.
2. Go to the Microsoft Download Site and download Microsoft AntiSpyware.  Install the software and scan your computer. 
3. Go to Download.com and search for Ad Aware
4. Download and install Ad Aware SE Personal (it is free for home use).
5. Run Ad Aware and click Check for Updates to be sure you have the most current pattern files.
6. Click Start and then Next to scan your system.
7.  When it is finished scanning, right-click in the list of objects found and Select All Objects.
8. Click Next to remove the objects.
9. Go back to Download.com and search for SpyBot.
10. Download and install Spybot Search and Destroy.
11. Follow the wizard to update the program and scan your computer.
12. Choose to "fix" all items that it finds.

The combination of Ad Aware and SpyBot will clean most spyware programs.  However, some spyware requires more complicated procedures.  If you find files that Ad Aware or SpyBot cannot remove, make note of the file names and locations and then boot into safe mode and attempt to manually delete the files. 

Safe Mode is used by pressing the F8 key repeatedly while your computer is first booting up.  For more help, try the SpywareInfo Forums
