What is Brief Post?

Brief Post, seen on the right, is a type of comment box frequently seen on personal websites that allows visitors to leave a brief message. Brief Posts are typically transitory in nature and are not meant to have a lasting effect.

Brief Post is similar to the popular Shoutbox script in wide circulation. Brief Post was developed in response to security concerns raised about some Shoutbox implementations.

Brief Post only works with PHP and MySQL.

easy to customize and setup
implemented with only 7 lines of code
supports bbcode for [url], [email], [b], [i], [u], [color], and [size]
automatic url and email detection (no need for bbcode)
secure from malicious attacks
post form is always visible
easily customizable bad word censor
easily customizable smiley support

setup script to create the database table
more customization for messages
more settings in the config file
option to save to text file instead of DB
